Challenging the Goldenrod gym was a bit of a nightmare when it happened. The gym leader in Violet was less...unique... and I guess I'm glad he didn't to put me in a dress, but I take back my words from when I said to someone that a gym leader qualifies if they do their job right.

[ He reaches for something placed next to the gear, and--voila! Guess who won the Zephyr badge just a short while ago? He looks at it, then looks even more disgruntled. Forced into a dress, fake bottomless pits, self-confidence issues and the threat of being Earthquake'd.

And then there had been Falkner.

It would be hypocritical of me to say that all he talked about was his father, I suppose.

On a different note, in less than a month I'd have been in this world for a year. I've been to a lot of cities, but the only school I've seen teaches only on topics related to Pokémon. How do the people here learn anything else?

I've noticed that issue, myself. I don't think they do. I'm sure it would be possible for you to find a tutor, though, if you were searching.

To some extent, it seems as though they don't believe there is much else worth learning.

This is the second time I've seen him. I first went to his gym in October, when Phoenix Wright challenged him.

Perhaps all the inhabitants are homeschooled or use private tutors, rather than formal schooling?

I hope so. My family back home is very serious about education, but I've been here for nearly a year and I haven't had anything to study.

This is my fifth one. We had some business in Violet, so I figured I could drop by.

I know a lot of people with colorful personalities, but it seems to be a common trait among gym leaders here.

Considering that this world almost completely revolves around Pokémon, if that were the case it certainly wouldn't be surprising.

That brings about the question of where those tutors learned what they teach, though.

My Pokémon behaved, surprisingly, so they didn't record anything when I challenged Olivine and Cianwood. Traveling on Pess makes things a lot quicker, too.

Then I'll treat you two to dinner when your Johto-versary rolls around.

[She sounds very sincere. And she can probably tell that shotas probably wouldn't want big crazy parties. Besides, Clover is not in a party-plotting mood.]
