[The feed turns on early on Monday morning, and hey - it's Miles. He hasn't been posting anything much the past couple of weeks, has he been? He... appears to be aware that the Gear is on, but he's not looking at it at the moment. Instead, there's Remus, his Plusle, wrapped snugly in the ends of his blue scarf, waving cheerfully at the camera.

And then you'd notice that he's... sitting somewhere rather high up. In fact, why does the city seem like it's so far away?

---Oh. Right. It's because he's sitting on the roof of the Goldenrod Hotel.]

[He stares out at the dawning city for a few seconds before, without turning to actually look at the camera, he addresses it.]

It's already been ten days since the New Year, but I was wondering... what year is it here, at least according to the Christian calendar?

[He then turns to finally look at the camera, and that's when you'd notice that he looks - as usual - tired and... perhaps sadder than usual? This weekend had been very tiring for him and his friends, after all. He was still sick, that fever was persistent... and he probably should be resting, but he had to get out at one point. Which was why he's here, seated on the edge of the rooftop, looking out at the city.

He gives the camera a small smile.]

What year was everyone born in, by the way? My birthday was in 1992, but I suppose there are a lot of people from different times here in Johto.

[And he blinks a couple times, yawns, and with a muttered "maybe I should sleep" he reaches over and turns off the video.]

I know I should have contacted you earlier, Phoenix, and I'm sorry, but... I'm all right. I'm with Merlin right now, and Ken.



...Perhaps you've heard from Ken already, but I promised I'd contact you when he woke up. He's fine now, Mr. Shinjiro.

[It's selfish to say this and he knows it. He just doesn't care.]

[Miles doesn't mind. It made him rather happy that people wanted him around.]

A sigh, and Miles stuffs his hands into his pockets.]

She's still back there, not knowing anything.

... [Ken has a feeling that's... a very small fraction of what Miles meant. But he won't push.]

[Staring at the sky, trying to act nonchalant.]

She doesn't really like me, anymore. After my father died.

[oh.]

... She's losing out.

[He says it in the same way he tells himself that his father lost out on him and his mother.

Confident, but... still somewhat shaky. As if one day his father would come back and he'd hate himself for saying it. Or as if one day, Miles' mother might come to her senses about not liking her son and Miles might hate him for it.]

... [He looks at Ken and blinks, before he shrugs, grimacing.]

[He has no clue what else to say, because he feels as if he's on thin ice with this topic already. He and Miles seemed to be so alike, but it was times like these when he realized... they were really different]

[He flops back to sitting by Ken, throwing his legs out so his feet dangle over the edge again.]

I just don't want her to live the rest of her life not knowing the truth. She doesn't deserve that.

I know it's bizarre, but please, believe me. {She knows he doubts - most people do, but then again, most people do believe that the afterlife doesn't exist.

We're from different worlds. I'm not so close-minded that I would... completely deny the possibility.

[He shrugs.]

The police from my world tried to solve my father's murder by hiring a spirit medium to channel his soul. And they were wrong.

I haven't trusted the supernatural since.

Perhaps not so different... But never mind.

{She winces.}

Spirit mediums are dicey at the best of times... And I'm sorry that they were wrong.

I can tell you that I am assuredly not supernatural, as if I were, then I would not really exist.

They're frauds. Magic and the supernatural don't exist in my world, not in the way it exists in others..

[Like Merlin. And Ken. Not Miles. His world wasn't like that.]

Don't be so quick to judge - I'm from the afterlife; meaning, I am dead. And every world has an afterlife, I know that much.

You'd be surprised, Miles. The supernatural has a habit of popping up when you least expect it.

Rather like the Spanish Inquisition.

.......frankly, that's none of my concern. Someone claiming to have spoken to my dead father can't prove anything.

[He doesn't... sound hostile. He just doesn't want to think about such a possibility...]

I made a promise to my friend that I would try to make things right. There are things that I found out here that can help me..

And after that. I'll probably try to come back here.
