[The feed turns on early on Monday morning, and hey - it's Miles. He hasn't been posting anything much the past couple of weeks, has he been? He... appears to be aware that the Gear is on, but he's not looking at it at the moment. Instead, there's Remus, his Plusle, wrapped snugly in the ends of his blue scarf, waving cheerfully at the camera.

 

And then you'd notice that he's... sitting somewhere rather high up. In fact, why does the city seem like it's so far away?

---Oh. Right. It's because he's sitting on the roof of the Goldenrod Hotel.]

[He stares out at the dawning city for a few seconds before, without turning to actually look at the camera, he addresses it.]

It's already been ten days since the New Year, but I was wondering... what year is it here, at least according to the Christian calendar?

[He then turns to finally look at the camera, and that's when you'd notice that he looks - as usual - tired and... perhaps sadder than usual? This weekend had been very tiring for him and his friends, after all. He was still sick, that fever was persistent... and he probably should be resting, but he had to get out at one point. Which was why he's here, seated on the edge of the rooftop, looking out at the city.

He gives the camera a small smile.]

What year was everyone born in, by the way? My birthday was in 1992, but I suppose there are a lot of people from different times here in Johto.

[And he blinks a couple times, yawns, and with a muttered "maybe I should sleep" he reaches over and turns off the video.]

I know I should have contacted you earlier, Phoenix, and I'm sorry, but... I'm all right. I'm with Merlin right now, and Ken.


...Perhaps you've heard from Ken already, but I promised I'd contact you when he woke up. He's fine now, Mr. Shinjiro.

I think you look very adorable, too, Ken. [Yeah, Miles has always wanted a little sibling. And this is his best friend, as a six year old. Gdmn Ken is adorable to him.]

What?! No I don't! [he carefully grabs the picture back and puts it--very carefully, gingerly--back into his pocket, slipping it into the small compartment in his wallet, waterproof and sturdy, where he had pulled it from.]

He watches, idly, as Ken puts away the picture, remembering that Miles' picture of his own family is back in Phoenix's room, at the bottom of his bag in a box with all of his other mementos. He hadn't taken them out since finding out about DL-6.]

And so keeps staring at Ken all curiously.]

Sanada-san is my senpai. He's on the boxing team and he's never lost a match! When he fights in Tartarus, he's amazing! He has electric attacks, like me, and he's always so serious about fighting, too.

[The only time he's heard Ken sound so excited was when his friend was talking about Featherman R. He listens, folding his arms over his knees and watching Ken.]

Sanada-san is amazing. I'm not sure what he thinks of me, but...

I'd like to be like him someday.

[A nod. Miles can understand the feeling of wanting to be like someone you respect.

And he really wishes that Ken would be able to.]
