[The message to Byrne Faraday starts recording before Miles is even talking to the Gear, so there is soft off-screen conversation while the camera points to the light gray sky.]

[The camera shifts as Miles moves, holding the Gear in his hand, and the sky on the screen is soon replaced by the boy and a grinning Wooper, who is bouncing on his lap.]
Mr. Faraday! There's someone I want you to meet.

The person I was traveling with, then, was Tal's father's trainer. He and Kay were looking for people to take care of the baby Woopers, and if I stayed with Phoenix, Tal would've been able to be with her father.
So I took her in. [And apparently Miles is no longer traveling with Phoenix. The Wooper is still derpfacing at Byrne.]
