[A blanket of black greets viewers when Miles' Pokégear is turned on, the machine taking a few seconds to adjust to the darkness of the night before Miles' face, lit up by the faint light of his screen, comes into view -- guess who's staying up past his bedtime?
Miles is being careful not to be so loud as he uses his Gear, and the soft snoring of Pess can be heard off-screen. As the camera adjusts, the orange glow of a slowly dying campfire casts Miles in a warm, somewhat lonely light, reflecting off of his glazed eyes and something - something wet - on his cheeks. The faint shadow under his eyes shows that he probably hasn't slept well in a while, either.]
......Well, it seems like a storm is brewing in the distance, after all. I can't expect tomorrow to be as clear as it was today.
Wright, you're not still afraid of thunder, are you now? If you are... I wish you luck.
[There is no particular reason why Miles is talking to the camera other than that there was nothing else to do. He simply seems unable to sleep, or maybe he's refusing to do so.]
Cherrygrove shouldn't be too far away. If the storm tomorrow doesn't slow us down too much, and if we hurry, we might arrive by later tomorrow or early Saturday. Will anyone be in the vicinity?
[He pauses.]
I wonder when the morning would come.

Date: 2010-10-08 05:41 pm (UTC)...urk. I'll be fine. I think.
But more importantly...
[His expression switches to concern. Miles, in his time, had told him that he suffered from nightmares. Every night for fifteen years. So if his hunch was correct, then--]
...are you alright, Edgeworth?
Re: [video; aww Phoenix as well. Good luck with them thunders, boy. ]
Date: 2010-10-08 08:16 pm (UTC)Well, be careful, then, and avoid getting struck by lightning or getting too soaked.
[Miles himself is curled up with the warmth that is known as Pess - bless them fire Pokémon and their constant radiation of warmth - as he takes shelter from the downpour under a tree.
He does appear a bit tired. However, he shrugs at Phoenix's question.]
I just had a hard time sleeping last night.
Date: 2010-10-11 08:54 pm (UTC)...and welp, Phoenix...has a pretty good idea as to why Miles had trouble sleeping, but. Considering how weirded out Miles has seemed so far, he decides to withhold that speculation for now.]
...well, I hope you can find a way to sleep better tonight, then.
Date: 2010-10-11 09:34 pm (UTC)[He seems even more tired now (Jesus Christ) and he seems to be struggling not to nod off i the middle of this conversation.
If only he wasn't so worried that the nightmares will cause him to worry Apollo.
Ten year old kids jumping awake in the middle of the night in cold-sweat is probably not an everyday occurrence even in Johto.]
Date: 2010-10-12 09:49 pm (UTC)[video; Miles doesn't need FOGS for his nightmares. Pfft.]
Date: 2010-10-12 09:53 pm (UTC)[video; He's just that cool, amirite?]
Date: 2010-10-13 04:01 am (UTC)[video; Of course he is. ☆ ]
Date: 2010-10-13 04:04 am (UTC)But it's a hospital. I just got out of one last month and I'm back already.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 01:00 am (UTC)He hears something out of place-- whispering?-- and wakes up completely. He sits up and looks over to see Edgeworth with his communicator.]
[Sort of groggily:] Couldn't sleep?
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 01:32 am (UTC)O-oh... yes.
It's hard to settle down, I guess.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 01:37 am (UTC)[Apollo ruffles his (ruined) hair and blinks a few times before answering and...
Oh. Oh, he's been crying.]
[Sort of awkwardly:] Yeah. The ground isn't the most comfortable place to sleep.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 01:44 am (UTC)[Miles closes his Pokégear and turns his face slightly away from the campfire. He should have wiped his face earlier - he doesn't want to worry Apollo too much, of course.]
We'll have to get used to it though. [He pats the dirt ground under him - it appears that he's leaning on his backpack, and hasn't even taken out his sleeping bag. He really wasn't planning on sleeping anytime soon, if at all. He wouldn't want to end up worrying Apollo if he had another of those nightmares.]
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 01:53 am (UTC)Yeah. It's nothing like home, is it? [He seems a little distracted]
[Apollo had promised Trucy that he'd try to help Miles in any way that he could but now that he's faced with it, he's not so sure he can do it. Is there a way to handle this without avoiding the obvious or making it worse?]
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 02:00 am (UTC)...I've never been camping before. My father was always busy. [He makes a movement as if he's rubbing his eyes and turns to Apollo - his face is dry again, although his eyes are a bit red.] Have you, Mr. Apollo? Camping I mean.
[Miles has made a habit out of changing the subject before it turns to anything remotely close to his father, and that is the course of action he's taking now, being that he's unsure just how much Apollo knows about him. It's a strange strange world with fire-breathing dogs and god-knows-what. He doesn't need to dwell on thoughts about his father's death. At least not for now.
He attempts a curious smile.]
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 02:24 am (UTC)[Apollo seems to debate saying something and decides against it. Instead he stretches a little.]
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 02:30 am (UTC)I'm glad it's not thundering, though. We'll be able to start walking again.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 02:37 am (UTC)Hopefully we can beat the rain. I think we're close to Cherrygrove by now.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 02:43 am (UTC)We are. I hope.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 02:50 am (UTC)Is something wrong?
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-10 03:07 am (UTC)I was just watching you. Your expression changes often.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-11 12:11 am (UTC)[action!]
Date: 2010-10-11 01:10 am (UTC)[action!]
Date: 2010-10-11 01:21 am (UTC)You hungry? We could eat now and start when the sun's up.
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-11 01:29 am (UTC)....Yes. I think I'd like to eat. [HE IS EMBARRASSED can you tell.]
[action!]
Date: 2010-10-11 01:32 am (UTC)Well, you have your choice between berries and trail mix or berries and trail mix. Tough choice, isn't it? [Smiles]
