[The feed turns on at past one o'clock in the morning, a deliberate post from our ever-insomniac future-prosecutor as he and his Pokémon wander aimlessly down Route 31 on the night of the attempt on Phoenix's life. At first, Edgeworth doesn't do much other than hold his Gear, the camera focused instead on Pess's concerned face as her trainer stood there, silently, before her.

After a while, Pess whines softly, jolting him out of his thoughts, and the boy finally speaks, turning the camera towards himself and -- huh, what is with that depressed-looking face?]

.....This is a message for everyone who saw Phoenix Wright's video earlier today:

He'll be all right, now. Help came early, and he was able to be properly treated. He won't be at his best, but at the very least, he should be able to move around a little by this weekend, although I don't think having him travel would be a good idea. If only Pess could evolve without a Fire Stone; those stones are so expensive..

In any case, his life won't be in immediate danger anymore...

[It is here that he pauses, seeming to hesitate. And a flash of guilt flits across his face right before that forced calm of his crumbled. Whatever it is that's on his mind, it's clearly a big deal to him, and his frown deepens, eyebrows knitting together. His eyes almost look like their watering.. After almost a whole minute, Edgeworth pulls a Pokéball out of his pocket.]

I caught an Spinarak here, earlier.. I've been here all night searching for Pokémon, since I don't want something like this to happen again. I have to be stronger, so that I don't cause everyone trouble... Besides, what happened today was--

[And his voice breaks off as he averts his eyes. He raises his hand to his mouth and struggles with the words, managing to choke out: ]

.....What happened today was all my fault. I could have stopped it.

[And then there's a strange sound, like someone starting to cry out loud, as Edgeworth abruptly ends the feed. At least he was able to send out the message about Phoenix. He himself had a couple of messages to send, but because he was crying now, he resorts to sending texts:]

I'm sorry I did not reply to your message immediately, Merlin. I saw Wright's video myself as well, but thank you for trying to inform me.

Mr. Gumshoe, where are you right now? I'll be heading to the next town as soon as Wright heals, and I will probably go to Goldenrod before turning back. I'd like to meet up with you.

[ Kristoph sighs, though he is somewhat amused by the situation. ]

I'd say that sounds almost like a textbook example on how to make others worry about yourself.

Ah, touché.

Yet you still manage to make me worried, Miles. After everything that had happened being alone in the wilderness doesn't feel like the wisest course of action...

Hm, perhaps I could join you at some point? It would be good to prepare Umberto in case the need for a serious battle ever arises. [ Because at the moment the pokemon in question would be on level... 9. Kristoph hasn't really been too interested in training. ]

There are a lot of people by Wright's side, so I believe he should survive the night without me. Where are you currently?

After all it's safer to have someone with you. You never know who you might run into in the dark. [ You could face a crazy murderer who's planning on making your best friend suffer and--- ...oh. ]

[ But you have no evidence of that, do you? Come on, Kristoph even came to help Phoenix. He has yet to do anything bad to anyone. Except minor mindfucking with Klavier but that doesn't count 'kay. ]

I will be there soon.

[ Oh but that's already three people. With the unfortunate disappearance of Trucy... my, it's just Apollo's word against Kristoph's word, isn't it? ]

[ Kristoph is making his way through the route, guiding the way with a recently bought flashlight. Umberto is out from his pokeball and slithering next to his trainer. The snake is enjoying the unusual freedom as for most of the time Kristoph simply keeps his pokemon confined within the ball. (not counting the times he keeps Umberto to out to fool others into thinking that he actually cares for the creature, of course.) ]

Ah, Miles. [ Kristoph turns to face Miles, automatically smiling as he recognises the boy. ] Good to see that you're still in one piece.

[ Kristoph walks closer to Miles, giving a somewhat cautious look to the spider on his shoulder. His Ekans hisses at its direction. ] I assume that that there is the new friend you've made tonight.

A Spinarak, hmm? I don't think I've seen one from this close before.

Giving a name to something can sometimes prove to be a difficult task. Perhaps you could use the way you named your other Pokemon as a guideway?

Pess... ah, no wonder the name sounded familiar.

In that case you should try coming up with a more worthy name for him. Nomen est omen, name is an omen, as they say.

The older Miles Edgeworth I know owns a dog of the same name. As a fellow dog owner we've talked about dogs quite a few times.

It appears that it's a name you've been planning on giving to your dog for a long time.

[ Kristoph smiles and crouches down, gently pressing his hand on Miles's shoulder. ]

I can understand that with it being a name chosen by your father.

It's a very good name.

[ I mean, at least Edgeworth isn't naming his pets and Pokemon after random Italian words like Kristoph. ]

[ Well at least Kristoph didn't name his brother himself. And that's one princess Kristoph wouldn't want to save. ]

[ Kristoph smiles back, giving Miles's shoulder a pat before getting up again. ]

Now then, I believe you came here in order to do some training?
